I've banned myself from buying make up!

It's no secret that I have a lot of make up, stupid amounts, but its what I like so hey. Having said that I've gone on a make up buying ban since January as I'm going to New York in March and all my pennies are going towards that. It's given me a really good opportunity to make use of the collection I have at the moment and I've rediscovered things that I haven't used for so long that its almost like having a whole load of new stuff! Well, kind of. Close enough. Here are a few of the things that I've become reacquainted with....

L-R- NYC Best of Broadway, Sleek Storm palette, Mac blush in Petal Power

Sleek eyeshadow palette in 'Storm'- I own several Sleek palettes and I have to confess they tend to get overlooked, not because they're bad at all but just because I've had so many other things I've been trying out. They really are brilliant though, there are so many varieties of these and they're only £7.99. The 'Storm' palette in my fave, it has a few matte shades for the crease and blending out and then some gorgeous shimmery colours, the most gorgeous smokey eyes can be created with this and the staying power these things have is amazing. If you want to see a more in depth post of these with the other palettes I own then please leave a comment to let me know!

NYC eyeshadow quad in 'Best Of Broadway'- this palette is £2.99. That's two pounds and 99 pence. I can't believe it, so cheap and such good quality. Ok, so the packaging is a bit cheap looking but I like that you can see all the colours inside, always handy. These colours last so well throughout the day with a eyeshadow primer underneath. I'm so glad I rediscovered this little gem, it has a brow bone highlight, a crease shade, a lovely darker brown/ purple shade and then the darkest colour is good for liner.

Mac Mineralize blush in 'Petal Power'- first off, lets all take a second to admire the retro Mac packaging, I miss it. As blushers go this is a beautiful one, the Mac Mineralize blushers always get my attention because they just look so pretty. Petal Power is a pink shade with gold shimmer running through it, think Nars Orgasm and this is its Mac twin. It adds such a healthy glow to the skin which is perfect for this time of year when skin is so dry, well mine is anyway! I also like that this is a bit of a 2 in 1 product in that you can easily skip highlighter with this if you wanted.

L-R- Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan and San Paulo, Mac Lovelorn

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams- seriously, why the heck have these sat unused for so long? I bloody love them! They're a version of a liquid lipstick, really light on the lips with an almost whipped texture which means they don't suck all the moisture out of your lips which so many lip products do. I normally touch up the corners of these once during the day which I think is pretty good going. They do now stock these in the UK and they retail for about £5 which is an absolute bargain! Currently I have the shades 'San Paulo' and 'Milan' which are both pinks, several more colours of these have been added to my NYC shopping list so watch this space.

Mac 'Lovelorn'- so pleased to have this back in my life, I will never neglect this for so long again. 'Lovelorn' was the first pink shade I ever got from Mac, its a lustre finish which means its sheer and glossy so really easy to wear day to day. I would recommend this to anyone but I think its perfect if you're just getting into make up and looking for your first Mac lipstick because you would just get so much use out of it. Love. It.

Have you ever gone on a self imposed make up ban? I've found it strangely satisfying to make use of all the things I already have but of course I am going to be ready for a splurge in New York!! Totally justified of course.....
