The NYX lip line-up

Nyx is a cruelty free make up brand that has been quite elusive in the UK until recently when its been popping up on websites, in Selfridges and most recently ginormous stands in Boots. It being easier to get my hands on has made this beauty junkie very happy. I thought today I would share with you a few of the lip products I have got recently, some were from New York and some I got when I practically skipped to Boots last week.

I've tried out a few Nyx products in the past and have always been really impressed by the quality considering its so well priced, this brand definitely falls into the 'drugstore' category. In particular I've always been a big fan of their lip products hence me buying a tonne of them. I've bought a few things from several of their different lip product ranges but there are more I am yet to try! Yep, the range really is that big. Some of the formulas I have tried before so can give my opinion on and some are quite new to me so I can give you my first impressions of them.

Let's get started with the Soft Matte Lip Creams (£5.50) which must be one of Nyx's most famous products, these things are always all over social media and with good reason, they are fabulous! The packaging is simple, you can see which colour you're picking up and it has a black rubbery type texture lid. I already have a couple so decided to get a couple more as I like them so much. The formula of these are quite unique, the closest thing I can think they are like is a liquid lipstick but the texture of them is lighter and quite mousse-like. They're very easy to apply with the doefoot applicator and dry down to a nice matte finish, they also have a nice vanilla scent but its not too over powering. The staying power of these is pretty decent, I normally reapply mine a couple of times throughout the day. I decided to get Prague which is a deep magenta shade and Zurich which is a light pink shade, I thought this would look really pretty in the summer.

Another product I've had previously are the Butter Gloss (£5.00), as I've said before I'm not keen on lipgloss on the whole but I like these ones as they don't feel sticky or anything like that. The packaging is the same size as the Soft Matte Lip Creams but more 'glossy' looking at the lids are coorinated with the colour of the gloss. This time I went for Angel Food Cake which is a pretty standard mauve-pink 'me' shade. I like glosses to be fairly neutral and don't tend to be a fan of colourful ones so this is ideal for me.

I am so pleased I got some of the Matte Lipsticks (£6.50) as I am yet to find a fault with them. They apply smoothly, are moisturising and last well, I'm really impressed by the quality. For a matte lipstick to not dry out your lips after a couple of hours is a huge plus point. The packaging is very simple with a black tube and the lids are see through so again you can easily tell which colour is which! This may not seem like a big deal but to me it is. The trio I went for are Sierra which is a terracotta, Tea Rose is a mauve (yes another one) and Angel a pretty, bright pink shade.

Next I got a couple of the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks (£6.50) as I had seen them paraded all over Instagram. I could have bought several of these as there were some real standouts in the range but I settled for two Sandstorm and Amethyst in the end. Sandstorm is a pale, brown tones nude which isn't something I would usually go for but I just had really wanted to give it a try and Amethyst is an in your face purple- a very unique shade! I am literally obsessed with Sandstorm, I just want to wear it all the time. All. The. Time. The formula of these are some of the best I have ever tried, they apply very opaque and even. Once they're dry they feel really moisturising on the lips and stay put, I find I get a tiny bit of fading after eating or drinking but its not noticeable at all. I also love that these reapply well too, sometimes once you start to layer a liquid lipstick it crumbles into nothing but these stay creamy and comfortable on the lips. My only regret with these is that I didn't get all the colours I wanted!

The last formula I thought I'd give a whirl are the Butter Lipsticks (£5.50) and as with all these products they do not disappoint. They are so buttery they just glide on like a dream. I haven't tested these out loads but so far I've really enjoyed them. I got two bright pink shades one called Sweet Tart and the other is Little Susie, they aren't my typical kind of shades but they are so fun I couldn't resist.

L-R Zurich, Prague, Little Susie, Sweet Tart, Sierra, Angel, Tea Rose, Sandstorm, Amethyst and Angel Food Cake

Phew! I know this post is very long but I just had to tell you all about what I've been testing out as I can't recommend this brand enough. I am going to IMATS in June so without a doubt will be visiting the Nyx stand to stock up on even more goodies so please leave me a comment on what I should get!
