Boots Haul

When you're a beauty addict Boots is a dangerous place to visit isn't it? I can almost hear my purse quivering as I walk in there! There have been so many bits and pieces I've wanted to test out from the drugstore lately and I just happened to find myself in there so thought 'why not?'. Even better, everything in this post is under a tenner.

The first thing I got was a repurchase, its the Loreal Infallible Matte Foundation in Porcelain. I have used up a couple of foundations lately so was on the eye out for some replacements and to be honest, I forgot this even existed. I have no idea how though as I wore it today and loved it so much, it feels really lightweight on the skin but gives a lovely matte finish. I am such a big fan of this, Loreal on the whole make some great foundations.

Speaking of Loreal, I was so excited when I saw a huge display of these brand new facemasks. There are three in the range but I picked up the one for oily/ combination skin which is the Pure Clay Purity Mask. I am yet to test it out but I absolutely love clay masks, they tightens up the skin and drag out all those nasty impurities so I have high hopes for this. The container says you should get ten uses out of it too which is pretty good.

Essie have recently launched their Gel Couture range and as a massive Essie fan I couldn't wait to test them out. The colours in the range are all beautiful so it was a tricky choice but I decided to go for Twill Seeker which is a unique looking shade, its a very deep, grey toned purple with a mermaid green shimmer running through it. I also picked up the topcoat to go with it to properly test out the formula. Also, how cool is the packaging? Its like regular Essie bottle thats been twisted around, which I think it really quirky. I hope these are the same high standard as the regular Essie polished because who doesn't want a gel mani at home?

Liquid lipsticks are just everywhere at the moment aren't they? And, as like most people, I think they're great so I've been testing out lots of different brand's versions. The Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick were some I had yet to try so I decided to get a couple. There wasn't a massive colour selection but two really stood out to me- Possessed Plum and Orange Shot, the names a pretty self explanatory as to what colour they actually are! I tested Orange Shot out the other day and was pleasantly surprised, it applied smoothly- I found two layers got the best result. It felt soft on the lips and last well throughout the day so I'm happy with these. If you aren't keen on scents they do have a very sweet one so they might not be for you.

Last but not least I went to the Nyx counter AGAIN! I just can't resist that stand. The one in London Stratford is absolutely amazing too, they have so many extra products that they don't have in the Norwich displays so I had to take advantage of the opportunity. They had the Hot Singles Pro Shadow Refills stock which I didnt even know Nyx did, I've never seen them on any displays or at IMATS, and they're only £2.50 a pan which even blows Make Up Geeks bargainous price out of the water. I managed to restrain myself and only picked out 4 shades: Zen- a shimmery green, Loaded- a mid tone brown, Top Notch Excellence- a deep bronze shade and Arrogance- a pretty purple. I'll just mention that I also got Own The Night in the actual pot (which I will be depotting) the week before. I got totally suckered in to buying this one as they had a picture on the display of someone wearing it and it looked amazing! Its a pretty unique shade as its a dark purple/ brown. Love it. I have high hopes for these shadows, they swatch well so fingers crossed.

You know those products you always pick up, walk around the shop with and then put back? Well I have done this countless times with Nyx HD Blush in Taupe so this time I put it firmly in my basket and that is where it remained! I was keen to test this out as I have heard it makes a great contour shade on fair skin, its a cool toned shade so I'm excited to get playing with this as I think it will work a treat.

I got myself one of the Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks, the majority of these were out of stock but I managed to get one shade I had seen on Instagram which is Teddy. It's a dark brown shade that reminds me a lot of Mac Stone, on the whole I love the formulas of Nyx products so I'm hoping these will be just as good- then I can run out and buy the other colours in the range.

Last but not least I bought the Nyx HD Eyeshadow Base a week or so ago as I had ran out of my Mac Painterly Paint Pot. I had heard absolutely nothing about this anywhere but thought 'meh, its only £5.50' and I have to say, if you buy anything I've talked about here buy this! Eyeshadows just stick to this and don't budge, its like glue. I would say this is the best eyeshadow primer I've tested out and I didn't think I'd be saying that about something I bought on a whim.

L-R- Taupe blush, Teddy, Orange Shot, Possessed Plum, Own The Night, Zen, Loaded, Top Notch Excellence and Arrogance
If you have tested out any of these products already and have any tips on how they work best then please leave me a comment below :)
