My five minute summer face

You know how it is, on hot days (which I appreciate are few and far between here in the UK) sometimes the last thing you want is a face full of make up, sweating it off all over the place, not the glammest look going is it. So I have found, particularly on weekends, that I've been going for a very parred back look using just a few trusted products. This little routine I've come up with also only takes five minutes so I can get out of the door and out into the sunshine sharpish.

First off I have been getting a very lightweight base down and the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser does the trick. It provides a good amount of coverage to even out my skin tone and has SPF20 which is absolutely essential for protecting skin, especially in the sun. Then its all about the concealing and brightening, I've been slapping a load of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter on under my eyes so that I look awake even if I don't feel it. I really like using this as a concealer, opposed to a highlighter, as it has a decent amount of coverage and I find it blends in so easily.

I then reach for the Nyx Wonder Pencil and let me tell you this is such a clever, little pencil. I use it on my waterline to really open up my eye but it also works perfectly as a little extra coverage on any nasty spots or blemishes that have taken up residence on my face. Of course I have to then boost my lashes with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, if you're a regular visitor to my blog then you'll know I rely on this mascara heavily for big, beefed up lashes.

The rest of the look is super simple, I apply some of the Wet N Wild Colour Icon Blush in Rose Champagne on the apples of my cheeks. I skip the highlighter as this blush has a slight golden sheen to it so its really not necessary, especially when I'm trying to look as natural and shine free as possible! We want a little glow people, not a sweaty looking sheen.

Even though lipstick is my thing, in the hot weather I find it can be hard work so I've been using glosses a lot more. The Nyx Butter Glosses are so smooth and moisturising on the lips so they're my current fave, Angel Food Cake in particular I've been using loads as its a neutral pink shade that just works with everything else. The pigment of these glosses are great because even once the glossiness has worn off you're still left with a stain on your lips so you don't have to worry about constantly reapplying, who wants that when you're out and about enjoying the sunshine? Not me!
