2016 make up faves

Another year has absolutely flown by so that means its time to share my 2016 favourites with you all. I have discovered a lot of fab products this year so deciding on my top ones was tough but I've whittled it down and am excited to share them all with you. Let's begin as this is gonna be a long one....

Nyx Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer (£12)- I want a primer to smooth our my skin, reduce the appearance of pores and help my foundation to glide on and this does the trick. I'm not a massive fan of silicone primers so I was pleased to find this one which has a creamy, lightweight texture. I've given a few primers a whirl this year but this one has been the clear favourite for me.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation (£29.50)- I rediscovered this foundation in the realms of my stash and fell back in love with it. I have oily skin but I find this gives a good amount of glow whilst keeping that oil at bay, which is a difficult balance to find. When I'm looking tired this perks up my complexion beautifully, an absolute lifesaver. I would say this is a medium to full coverage foundation that builds nicely on the skin. I'm nearly out of mine so will need to take a trip to a Charlotte Tilbury counter pretty soon, what a shame!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19)- picking a concealer this year was tricky as I have used so many good ones but for me this is the winner. I apply this under my eyes and blend out with a Beauty Blender and it does fab job of covering up tired eyes and brightening up that area. For £4 this is a fantastic product and I completely get why so many people rave about this. The only issue is trying to find it in stock somewhere, many times I have gone on the hunt for this little bugger.

Ben Nye Fair Translucent Powder (£8.95)- I have loved this powder for setting my under eye concealer and around my t-zone. It locks products down really well and doesn't make you look like you have a tonne of make up on your face, the finish is nice and natural appearing which is exactly what you want in a setting powder. It doesn't alter the appearance of my foundation or anything like that, some powders change the finish of your make up which is so annoying but there is none of that business here.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed (£23)- without a doubt my go to blusher this year. It's the perfect pinky nude shade, its just enough to give a bit of a flush to the skin but still looks natural. The packaging is so cute, it has a mirror in the lid and an embossed pattern on the blush. I use this loads and have barely made a dent so they are worth the investment in my opinion. I'm very keen to get some more of these in my collection in 2017.

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette (£9.99) review- if you follow me on social media or read my posts reguarly then this will come as no surprise that this has been my favourite highlight of the year. I love that you get a mixture of powders and creams but most of all I just love how intense these are, this really isn't for the fain hearted. A complete steal too, I genuinely couldn't recommend this enough so if you're looking for a new highlight go and test this out, you won't be disappointed.

Nyx HD Eyeshadow Base (£5.50)- I have just started my second one of these and think its amazing. This makes the perfect base for eyeshadow application with its smoothing texture. For me this works best by rubbing into the eyelid up to the brow bone with your finger and then allowing to dry down for a minute or two. The few times I've been impatient and gone in with my eyeshadow straight away I have found my eyeshadows creases so beware of that. Other than that though this makes blending a dream, intensifies the pigment and prolongs the wear of eyeshadow.

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette (£18) review- I'll admit to having been a little obsessed with this thing this year but I haven't been the only one, this has been cropping up on blogs all over the place and I'm not surprised. These shadows are pigmented, easy to blend and basically just stunning. The shade range are mostly warm toned bronzes, golds and purples but I find I can create so many looks for both day and night with this gem.

Make Up Geek Eyeshadows (£6) haul 1 and 2- Yes I have already mentioned eyshadows but I just couldn't pick between these and the Zoeva ones. I was a bit late to the party with Make Up Geek eyeshadows but once I got a few I could completely understand the hype surrounding them. I reach for these more often than a lot of more expensive eyeshadows I own such as Mac. The price is great, the quality is amazing and the colour range is endless. Some of my most used are Frappe, Cocoa Bear, Cosmopolitan and Flamethrower. I have plenty of space in my Z-palettes so I feel another order coming on soon to get me through January.

Nyx Slide On Glide Eyeliner in Golden Bronze (£5.50)-
this liner is amazing, the formula is so long wearing that they remind me of the Urban Decay ones except these are a fraction of the price. I got a few shades over the year but my number one was Golden Bronze. I create so many brown, bronze looks during the day and this looks perfect on my lower lash line with those.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Black (£14.50)- I featured this liner in my 2015 favourites and I did test out a few others this year but still worked my way through two of these so what does that tell you? It's the blackest of black shades and stays put for hours and hours. To me nothing else can compete so expect to see this again in my 2017 favourites!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (£19)- Again, another repeat from 2015, sorry! But seriously I love this stuff, it makes my lashes look long and full of volume. My favourite mascara of all time easily.

Nyx Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade (£5.50)- I got this half way through the year not having heard much about it but hoping it would be a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade and I have not been disappointed. You need a light hand when applying this so a little patience is required but I love how well groomed this makes my brows look.

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvellous Mauve ($14)- I'm a lip product junkie so believe me when I say there are loads of products I could have talked about but I decided to go for the one I have used the most this year. The Sephora Cream Lip Stains are liquid lipsticks with an amazing formula and this colour is just everything to me. I use this for day time and evening as the dusty pink shade goes with so many looks. You just need one layer for an opaque coverage and it dries down quickly leaving no stickiness or dry feeling on my lips. I can eat and drink with this and quite often get away without needing to reapply this all day. Love, love, love this!

Essie Lady Like (£7.99)- I have been going for understated nails for a lot of this year and this has been my top polish for that look. It's a pretty nude, pink shade that is simple, sophisticated and doesn't chip for days.

Thanks so much to all of my readers this year, my blog has very much become my baby and I've enjoyed putting together posts for you all. I wish you all a great year and here's to more make up discoveries in 2017!
