Make up bag switch up

I need to get much better at utilising my make up collection, there are so many products I neglect and its not because I don't like them, its usually just because I've been distracted by something else! At the start of this week I had a bit of a switch up in my daily make up bag to make a bit more use of these poor products....

PS... Primer Water- I haven't used this for a while now just because I've been testing out other primers but I really like it. A spritz or two of this before make up application refreshes my skin and helps make up go on. Of course it's a total bargain too at £2.

PS... Blush in Taboo- Got to love a £1.50 blush right? I know I've spoken about the Primark blushes before and in the interests of not repeating myself too much I will just say that for the price you can't go wrong with this. The peachy, matte shade of it is so pretty but just go easy as there is a lot of pigment in this blush!

Ben Nye Fair Translucent Powder- I picked this powder up at IMATS last year for an absolute bargain and for some reason forgot I had it! Earlier this year when I found it I started testing it out and have loved it ever since. Sometimes with white powders you can get that annoying cast on your face so I like that this one has a hint of colour as it blends more seamlessly.

Becca Champagne Pop- can you remember when this was first released? They hype surrounding it was unbelievable and it was probably the first time I ventured into the realm of expensive highlighters. I have used this a fair bit, not that you can really tell as it looks virtually untouched! A little goes a long way with this one. It's a beautiful 'champage' shade, which I do admit isn't what I usually go for but there is no denying how stunning this is.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade- this highlight is perfect for you fair skin people out there who struggle to find a highlighting shade thats light enough. Mac describe it as a 'soft beige' but to me it always looks more white if I'm honest. The shimmer in this is very pretty and buildable so for a subtle glow you can just use one layer or build it up for something more intense.

Tophop Glow Pot in Polished- you can probably tell by now I had a proper raid of my highlighter stash! I haven't tried loads from the Topshop beauty range, just a couple of bits here and there but this is definitely the favourite thing I've given a go. I don't go for a cream highlight that often but if I do this is the one I usually reach for as the light shade goes with my skin tone.

Sleek Contour Kit in Light- back in the day when contouring first became big this was the first product I got to give it a go myself and I loved it for a long time. I'm hoping after not using it for a while that my opinion hasn't changed. You get a bronze/contour shade and a pink toned highlight in this bargainous kit.

Freedom Duo Eyebrow Powder in Ebony- this week will be the first time I've tested out this duo but I have high hopes it a cheaper alternative to the Anastasia Beverly Hills one. I've not used a brow powder in what seems forever so I'm looking forward to having a bit of a different brow routine. I have very dark brows and fair skin so 'Ebony' seemed the best match for me.. time will tell!

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder- I got this a few weeks ago now and am yet to use it! I have oily skin so can't get away for a whole day without powdering, unless the look I'm going for is oily mess... which it isn't. I absolutely love the One Heck Of A Blot powder from S&G and have relied on that in my handbag for a long time now, therefore I have high hopes for this one. I like that its translucent as it means there won't be any altering the colour of your make up business going on, which I have found before with certain powders. Its a little enjoying that this hasn't come with one of those puff thingies to apply this, I don't tend to carry around make up brushes so I may need to get one to sling in there.

Do you switch up your make up bag on a regular basis?

  1. I totally feel you with the opening, I'm the same. I have so many products that I don't use simply because I'm loving something else. A makeup switch up is such a good idea xx
