My current go to base

There are six base products lately that I have been sticking to like glue. I'm an oily skinned girl and I'm constantly on the hunt for products that keep me matte but not flat, I still want to face to have a bit of dimension and brightness. Also, once I find a winning combination its so easy for me to just gravitate towards it each day.

I got myself this mini Benefit The Porefessional Matte Rescue in the summer as I'd always been intrigued by this product but didn't want to fork out full a pricey full size tube for it to not work. I've made that annoying mistake many times! On the whole I don't get on well with silicone based primers so something like this that is more of a gel is ideal. This comes out with a blue tint to it and I find it absorbs into the skin really quickly as its so lightweight. It gives a nice hydrated base to work with and absolutely helps to keep me matte. Once I've used this I will be getting a full size one for sure.

I experiment with lots of foundations of varying finishes and coverages but at heart I will always be a lover of the full coverage base. Seventeen Stay Time Foundation has been my full coverage go to for the past few weeks. First of all its only £6.49 so for a foundation I'm wearing daily I'm pleased its cheap! It also gives decent coverage and keeps the oil at bay. I will just caveat that lately I have been breaking out a lot and I have a sneaky suspicison it may be this foundation *sad face* I'll keep you posted on whether it is. Fingers crossed it isnt as I love it!

If I had a pound for every time I mentioned the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer...... I'll keep it brief. We all know the deal with this stuff, it covers a multitude of sins, I use it under my eyes and on lurkers. I've repurchased this several times this year alone so its no surprise its a fixture in my current routine. Whilst we're talking about concealer I do find the Collection one needs a little help in the brightening department sometimes.... or maybe its just my sleepy eyebags. Anyway, I love the Mac Prep & Prime in Radiant Rose for under the eyes and adding a subtle highlight to other areas of my face. I have one more concealer in my routine that I bring in for tougher jobs (ie bigger blemishes that just wont be hidden!) and thats the Mac Studio Finish Concealer Duo. I opt for this because a little gives a good amount of coverage and doesn't look too thick on the skin, you also get a pink and yellow based shade which is handy.

Day to day I'm usually rushing to put on my make up and using a loose powder doesn't always appeal, particuarly as I tend to make a right mess when using one. The Nyx HD Finishing Powder is a product I have shown a lot of love since I first got it, as I'm sure you can tell. I usually just focus finishing powder on the parts of my face that really need it like under my eyes and my t-zone. This goes on smoothly and blurs everything out. I know they do a banana shade which I think I need in my life for counter acting any redness, especially now the colder months are approaching,

Which base products are you loving at the moment? Leave me some suggestions below!

  1. I love the sound of that Seventeen foundation! I've never actually heard of it before but think I might have to pick it up next time I'm in Boots! X
