My 2017 Make Up Favourites

Another year over, not that I want to sound cliche but.... where has this year gone?! Selecting products to talk about in this post was tough as there have been so many that I loved throughout 2017 but after some deliberating I whittled it down to these 15!

Benefit The Porefessional Matte Rescue (£23.50)- The tube pictured isn't a full size version, just incase you thought it looked really small! This is a beautiful gel based primer that creates a hydrated base for your make up application whilst also banishing that pesky shine from your skin. It with stands heat well, I wore it during the evenings on holiday and my foundation wasn't melting off my face, hooray!

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation (£6.99)- I became absolutely obsessed with this foundation especially in the earlier half of the year. It provides such a good coverage with a beautiful matte finish. I always gravitate towards matte finishes as my skin can be oily and I was so impressed with the longevity of this formula.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation (£28.50)- This has become my go to day to day foundation. It has a lightweight consistency but still manages to provide amazing coverage whilst look natural, its honestly magical! I didn't think this would agree with my skin but it works wonders and I get compliments when I wear this.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (£29.50)- I stalled on buying this for months and months which I know now was such a stupid thing to do! I rely on this so much now to keep my skin looking flawless. It blurs out any fine lines and prevents my under eye concealer from creasing all day long. The price tag does seem steep but I honestly wouldn't be without this now. It blends into my skin perfectly and doesn't leave an annoying white cast like some setting powders do. There is also a significant difference with how my make up wears throughout the day when I use this, my foundation stays put and oily patches on my skin are significantly reduced.

Essence Satin Touch Blush in Satin Love (£1.00)- This blush is such a gem and for a quid? I fell in love instantly. It has a satin finish (as the name would suggest) and thats right up my street because I always like a blush to have a little sheen to it. The neutral pink shade means it goes with lots of different looks and works as a daily blush perfectly.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle (£24.50)- I know this is a product most people got years ago but to me it was completely new! This was a little birthday treat to myself back in June and I get the hype surrounding it. The soft champagne/gold colour is surprisingly well suited to my fair skin, in the past I've always preferred a pink based highlight but this is beautiful. It can be built up to create a really intense glow too.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder (£12.00)- This little beaut has been my handbag essential for months now. It works great for touch ups throughout the day, especially by lunch time when there is a little oil peeking through. This is perfect for making your make up look like its just been applied, I love it!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara (£8.99)- I've tested out a few mascaras this year and hand on heart this is the only one I can say I would repurchase again and again. It does exactly what it says and gives your lashes amazing volume, I also like the scooped brush as it helps to curl the lashes. I've tried several high end mascaras in the past and this gives them a serious run for their money.

Nyx Tame & Frame Brow Pomade (£6.00)- I wasn't a massive fan of brow pomades until I got this in my collection. I've found other ones to be too slippery when applying so its easy to apply too much or make a mistake whereas this one has a different formula. It's still smooth and glides on nicely but I just find it easier to work with. It's also an absolute steal compared to its rivals.

Benefit Brow Zings Eyebrow Kit (£26.50)-  I always loved this product back in the day but ended up moving onto new things, however I am so pleased I rediscovered this when I did. It's super handy as you get a wax, powder and some mini tools to use too. Personally I prefer the wax side and tend to use that alone but on days I'm feeling a little more fancy I use to powder on top to set the wax. When travelling this is my favourite little kit to take.

Nyx Control Freak Eyebrow Gel (£6.00)- My eyebrows loving doing their own thing so I need a strong brow gel and this ticks that box! It's a clear gel so will work on everyone and it keep every hair in check. It dries down quickly too and doesn't leave your eyebrows looking crispy or with a wet look so its ideal. Of course being Nyx its a total bargain too.

Nyx Matte Liquid Liner (£6.00)- Yep, another Nyx product! I had heard lots of good things about this liquid liner and was in the market for a new one earlier this year. I love the tapered brush as it means you can create the most precise line either thick or thin. It's also very matte, it dries down with no sheen left. Against my watery eyes it also holds up pretty well too.

Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Burnt Spice (£17.50)- I had heard mixed things about the formula of the Mac liquid lipsticks but I absolutely love this one! I don't find it to be drying at all and stays put so well, even after food and drink, I have gone entire days without needing to reapply this which is impressive. The colour itself is a beautiful brown toned nude which I think compliments my skin tone very well.

Mac Spice Lip Pencil (£13.00)- I had to mention this lipliner as I have used it constantly this year and its such a well known product from Mac. Again, its a brown toned nude, they have really been my thing this year. It works great under a lipstick but I also like to wear this alone.

Mac Spirit Lipstick (£16.50)- The lipstick I've been pairing with Spice is this beauty. There is just something about this shade that I fell in love with immediately. It's so versatile as it has elements of brown and pink in there so I can wear this with so many make up looks, in fact I'm so reliant on it I have it in my handbag pretty much the whole time. It's a Satin finish which are my faves from Mac as they are so comfortable and long wearing.

Phew! If you got all the way to the end of this post then you deserve a round of applause! Please leave me a comment with a link to your own favourites post as I would love to read it. Thanks so much to all of you for reading my blog throughout 2017, I appreciate it so much.

Have a very happy 2018!
